URIM and THUMMIM. O.T. and N.T.
There
is nothing ''magic'' in the Urim and the Thummim.
Urim
means: Light.
Thummim
means: Perfect law.
The
following texts refer to the Light and of the Perfect law:
Ex 28/30. Lev 8/8. Nb 27/21. Deut 33/8. 1 Sam 28/1-6. Ez 2/63. Neh 7/65.
The
Urim is the Light. Or Jesus-Christ is the Light. The Light, Jesus-Christ, is
the Word made flesh. Jn 1/9 and Jn 1/1, 14. Ps 11/9-16.
Moses
wrote two things: the Word and the law, Ex 24/3.
The
Thummim is the perfect law. This perfect law is the law of liberty Jm 2/12.
When
the Urim and the Thummim were consulted, the Word and the law of God were actually
consulted.
We
have the same thing today. You can consult the Urim (The Word) and the Thummim
(The law of Liberty).
There
is a danger when we consult only the Urim. It is what Saul did when he was living
in sin 1 Sam 28/6. Consulting only the Word, without being in accord
with the law, he could not get an answer.
It
is the same today. When the Christians rejoice with a Word of God without considering
the law of liberty whih goes with it, they deceive themselves.
For
instance:
When
a Christian claims Lk 12/32 which is the Urim, the Light, the Word,
but does not obey Lk 12/33 which immediatly follows, and which is the
Thummim, the perfect law, the law of Liberty, he deceives himself.
The
Urim does not go without the Thummim.
Those
who are legalist only consult the Thummim and forget the Urim. And they are
gravely mistaken for the Word is always above the law.
The
Word is God. God is Love. and the Love covers a multitude of sins whereas the
law underlines them.
In
prayer, don't multiply the vain words Matt 6/7. Avoid empty talk
2 Tim 2/16. Vanity of the vanities all is vanity and vainglory Ecc 1/2,
14. What is the vain religion and what is the true religion Jm 1/26-27.
Here
is your God, vengeance will come Is 35/4. Vengeance is mine, I will
repay Rm 12/19. See Forgiveness.
It
is like a day dream. Whoever has visions has his soul and his spirit which came
close to each other so that they can see things that others cannot see.
In
our time of the story of the Church, it is normal for the young people to have
visions Joel 2/28.
Happy,
in the Bible, means: marching forward. In what is called the beatitudes, the
word used by Jesus-Christ is asheri Ps 1/1. Matt 5/3-10. This word does
not entail a vague idea of ethereal happiness, but an idea of righteousness,
the idea of the man walling on a road without obstacles, which guides toward
the Almighty Lord.
To
walk with God means to walk resolutely, with one's head held high, strong convictions
and a great peace in all the situations, even the most tedious.
To
walk with God is to live in harmony with the teachings given by the Bible. It
is also to be obedient to the inspiration given by the Holy Spirit.
God refuses no reward to those who walk in integrity Ps 84/12. The people of God is the one which observes and practices the laws of God Ezek 11/20-21. What God asks from you is that you walk humbly with Him Michea 6/8.
A disciple of Jesus-Christ walks in the light as He is Himself in the light 1 Jn 1/17. 2 Jn 1/6. 3 Jn 1/4.
It
is whatever is not Peace. It is all the conflicts.
There
will be a war in the heaven just before the Victors of the age of Laodicea are
taken up in heaven. Rev 12/12. See
Gethemane. Church.
See also baptism. There were ablutions accomplished by the spiritual authorities under the law of Moses. Nb 19/7. And in the new Covenant, there is the Prescription of the Washing of the feet. Jn 13/4-15. When Paul was baptised, he had to be washed of his sins invoking the name of Jesus-Christ. Acts 22/16. This is not a mystery, it is the Truth. But it is not the careless Jn 13/15 who will tell you that I am right... They are not marching forward (happy means: forward! march!) they are blocked in the progress of their faith by the belief of their religious denominations and will never restore the Prescription of the Washing of feet in what they call their ''churches'', and which are only religious clubs not based on the Biblical model Lk 14/33. Acts 2/38-47. Acts 4/32-37. Ps 133. Gal 6/6 etc... See Church.
A disciple of Jesus-Christ is sensitive to the signs of the time, he watches. Watch therefore, for you you do not know in what kind of a day your Lord is coming Matt 24/42-43. Matt 25/13. Mk 13/35-37. Watch and pray and don't fall into temptation Matt 2-/41. A disciple watches; he is also a sentry who warns others about the danger which is coming. See Sentry.
It
is the symbol of the Word, of Jesus-Christ. Jn 4/6-15. In order never
to be thirsty anymore Jn 7/37.
Jesus is the Way. Jn14/4-6. We have the duty to teach our children the ways they should follow Pr 22/6. The ways of God are not our ways Is 55/8-9. There is a gate and there is also a Way which leads to the life Matt 7/13-14. God always prepares a way to get out of temptations 1Cor 10/13.
Because
we are mortal, we are weak. All human beings are weak. It is only with the help
of God that we can do the right things Jm 4/6-7.
Every
man is weak and fragile. We should all strengthen our weary hands Is 35/3-4.
Our spirit is always willing, but our flesh is weak Matt 26/41. Mk 14/38.
The people who are on the evil side of the underworld will appear before this throne, to be judged according to their works. Rev 20/11-15. See Baptism. Death. Free will. Last Judgment . Missionnary work. Resurrection.
Which
has no value, no competence; which is harmful, dangerous, evil, malicious, having
the will to harm... in brief, a wicked is useless.
God
moves away from the wicked, but he listens to the prayer of the justs. See
Just. Prov 15/29. When the wicked dominate, the people mourn
Prov 29/2. Drive out the wicked from among you 1 Cor 5/13. We have
to fight the wicked spirits in the celestial places Eph 6/12. The law
was made for the lawless 1 Tim 1/9.
The
wicked do not resist the judgment day, nor do the sinners in the Community of
the righteous. Ps 1/5.
It
is a woman who did not marry a second time after the death of her husband. Taking
care of the widows and the orphans Deut 14/29. This poor widow has put
in more than all those contributing to the treasury Mk 12/41-44. The
True religion is to visit the widows and the orphans who are afflicted Jm1/27.
He
who has the Wisdom has received a gift or a capacity coming from God as a judge.
The animal man, i.e. generated, under the condemnation due to the fall, has
no right to judge. On the other hand the spiritual man judges everything thanks
to this gift. 1 Cor 2/14-15. There is obviously a wisdom which can be
gained by the experience and the study, but this is not the wisdom referred
to by the verses just quoted. The human wisdom is a basic wisdom which helps
the world stand more or less properly...
God
gives the Wisdom to Solomon 1 Kg 4/29-30. He who gains wisdom loves
his own life Prov 19/8 Jesus-Christ was growing in Wisdom Lk 2/40,
52. If any of you is deficient in wisdom, you should gain it, and for that,
let him ask God who gives to everyone without reproaching Jm 1/5.
We
are baptised in the Holy Spirit to become witnesses of Jesus-Christ. The Greek
word for witness is martys, whence martyr Lk 21/12-19. Jesus-Christ
is the trustworthy Witness Rev 1/5. Our life should be a testimony. Those
who want to live piously in Jesus-Christ will face persecution 2 Tim 3/12.
See Martyr.
Persecution. No false testimony Ex 20/16. The Gospel is preached
in the whole world to serve as testimony to all the nations. Matt 24/14.
See Tabernacle. The Holy Spirit
bears testimony to Jesus-Christ Jn 15/26. The Spirit bears testimony
to our spirit Rm 8/16 1 Jn 5/6. Not to be ashamed 2 Tim 1/8.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy Rev 19/10.
It
is an adult person of the feminine sex. It is God who created the woman. But
when He created the woman, she was not as she is today. Neither was man by the
way. God created them male and female. Gn 1/27 (litterally) and the
serpent was not like it is nowadays
either! He was standing and could talk... ) In the Ch 5 of Genesis, verse
2, it is said that God called man and woman with the name of man (not human,
but man.)
Moses,
writing his book opened a parenthesis to say that the man will leave his father
and mother and join himself to his wife. Gn 2/24. But this could only
take place after the fall. See Adam.
Marriage.
(This
figure of style is not an isolated case in the Bible. Matthew, for instance,
was telling an episode of the life of Jesus Matt 8 14 -17, and opened
a parenthesis to talk of Jesus on the cross, an event which was to take place
only in chapter 27. For it is on the cross indeed that Jesus took upon
himself our diseases and sicknessess.)
The
woman is the glory of man 1Cor 11/7. Women should be dressed decently
1Tim 2/9-10. They can receive the Holy Spirit just like the men to
fulfill the same things as the worthy men, if they are worthy. The churches
have always put women aside. Jesus entrusted the predication of his resurection
to a woman. Jn 20/17. The apostles and the other men came to join the
woman who had organized a prayer meeting in the upper room: Acts 1/13-14...(With
the WOMEN).
The
seventy disciples of Lk 10/17 must have been women and men. What makes
us say that, is that if there had been only men, Lk would probably have written
the name of each of them as it is always done in the Bible.
