LABAN O.T.

It was the brother of Rebecca, the father of Lea and of Rachel. Gn 24/2960. 27/43-44. 28/1-5. 29/4-29. 30/25-42. 31/55.

LAMB of GOD. See Esther, Jesus-Christ.

Jesus-Christ is called the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jn 1/29. Jesus-Christ is the Lamb who offers himself as a sacrifice instead of us, as a substitute. Isaiah talks about him as a lamb which is taken to the butcher's. Is 53/7. Peter tells us that we have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without spot or stain. 1 Peter 1/18-20. John, in his book of Revelation presents Jesus-Christ as the Lamb which was immolated and which is worthy Rev 5/12. He also says that we are the victors because of the blood of the Lamb, Rev 12/11.

LAMBLORE.

French village where ''the Teaching of the Lamb'' has been written. The word 'Lamblore' comes from two English words: 'lamb' which means 'lamb' and 'lore' which means 'tradition', 'traditional teaching', 'doctrine', 'special instruction'.

Lamblore thus means:

Traditional Teaching of the Lamb.

The special doctrine of the Lamb.

The doctrine of the Lamb. Rev 3/22.

Science: Way of knowledge which comes from the inspiration of God.

Doctrine: Set of opinions of a litterary or philosophical school or of the dogmas of a religion.

The Oxford Enlish Dictionary:

LORE:

1) the act of teaching, the condition of teaching or of being instructed, teaching, a lesson.

2) Archaic and dialectical modern definitions:

What is taught, doctrines applied mainly to the religious doctrines. Any specialized transmission of a knowledge.

3) that which we learn, the knowledge, the erudition, the science.

LORE:

From the old English = LARE: of a Teutonic origin ''LAIZA'' (Teutonic Order: German hospitaller and military order allemand founded around 1128 in Jerusalem by the kings)

There is a very famous expression containing the word LORE: it is the word FOLKLORE. Of the English Folk = people, and of the word Lore, with the meanings mentioned above.

The book of teaching that you have in your hands has been written in Lamblore...

LAMENTATIONS. O.T.

See Jeremiah. It is a book of the O.T. Certainly poems or songs of suffering due to the fall of Jerusalem and of all Israel. The fall of Jerusalem took place around 586 BC and this book was written just after.

LAST DAYS.

It is our era. It is the era which precedes the return of Jesus-Christ on earth. There will be difficult moments 2 Ti 3/1-7. The mocking minds speak a lot and have more often the floor than those who speak the truth, they deny that Jesus will come back. 2 Peter 3/3-7.

LAW.

See Commandment. Obedience.

All the blessings, the curses, the rewards and the punishments rest upon the laws. Deut 28/1-68.

The law of Moses aimed at guiding us to the Law of Jesus-Christ.

The law of Moses consists in ordinances, restrictions and orders.

The law of Jesus-Christ is the Gospel, the perfect law of freedom. Jm 1/25. See Freedom.

It is by the law that sin can appear. It is to become the Savior that God gave a law to Adam. Gn 2/16-17. Yet, the law of God is perfect and restores the soul Ps 19/8. God is a legislator Jm 4/12. See Commandment.

But the law of Moses has been given us as a pedagogue to guide us to Jesus-Christ. Gal 3/19-24.

Il was indeed impossible to reach sainthood by going through the law of Moses. It did not take sin away, whereas Jesus-Christ takes the sin away and grants His Justice to those who receive it by the faith. See Justice.

LAWLESS

Whatever is not in agreement with the Word of God. If it is hard for a good man to be saved, what will happen to the wicked and the sinners? 1 Pt 4/18.

1 and 2 Cor, Gal, Rm are dated 55-57 AD. Paul wrote his letters to the Corinthians during his third missionnary trip. He answers questions and sets disputes which aroused in the Communitys of Corinth.

The letter to the saints of Galatia was certainly written for several comunities of Galatia. Some members of the communitys were becoming very legalist. Paul sets things in the right order.

The letter of Paul to the saints of Rome was written in Corinth. He wanted to prepare his next visit. He clearly talks about the legalist Jews-Christians.

The letters to the Philippians, Colossians, Ephesians, Philemon and the Hebrews, were written by Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome for the first time.

He encourages the Philippians and expresses his gratitude for their love.

To the Colossians, he writes about the grave errors which some were spreading in the Community.

To the Ephesians, see Ephesians.

The letter to Philemon is a personal letter concerning Onesime, a slave.

Paul wrote the letter to the Hebrews, i.e. the converted Jews who were living in the Community. It was to completely assure them that the law of Moses was perfectly fulfilled in Jesus-Christ.

1 Timothy is a letter written just after Paul came out of the prison of Rome the first time. He gives him advice to encourage him.

The second letter to Timothy is certainly the last letter of Paul. He was again imprisoned in Rome. This letter contains his last words and show his courage and his faith.

LEVI. O.T.

See Jacob. Lea. It is the third son of Jacob and Lea Gn 29/34; 35/23. Levi is the father of his tribe.

Aaron, brother of Moses was a Levite and his descendants were sacrificators Ex 6/16-20. 28/1-4. 29. The Levites helped the sacrificators, sons of Aaron Nb 3/5-10. 1 Kg 8/4. The levites could be musicians 1 Chron 15/16. They offered sacrifices of animals 2 Chron 29/34. Ez 6/20. and accomplished various tasks Neh 11/16. Actually, they substituted for all the first-born among the Jews Nb 8/18. Fully dedicated to God Nb 8/16. They could not have possessions Nb 18/23-24. Therefore the act of the Levite who converted to Jesus-Christ so much marked Luke in the writing of his book Acts 4/35-36. And for this reason he chose this testimony among hundreds of others.

The levites received the tithing Nb 18/21. They had cities Nb 35/6-8. And the right to receive the gifts of the people during the feasts Deut 12/19. 14/27-29.

LIBERATOR.

Jesus-Christ is the only liberator not only of humankind, but also of all the creation. See Jesus.

LIFE.

It is more than the existence. God has set before us life and good and death and evil and we show who we are by the choice we make Deut 30/15-20. See predestination. You will teach me the path of life Ps 16/11. He who seeks justice will find the life Prov 21/21. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life on My account will find it Matt 10/39. 16/25 Mk 8/35 Lk 9/24. 17/33. The Word was the Light of the man, in it was the life Jn 1/4. Whoever believes Me and relies on Him who has sent me has passed from death to life Jn 5/24. I am the Way, the Truth and the life Jn 14/6. If we who are abiding in Christ have hope in this life only, then we are of all people most miserable 1 Cor 15/19-22. Godliness holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come 1 Tim 4/8.

LIFE (PRE-MORTAL)

Our spirit has always been with God. '' before the dust returns to the dust, as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.'' Ecc 12/9.

The sons of God shouted for joy when the morning stars sang together Job 38/4-7. God knew us even before we were in the bosom of our mother Jer 1/4-5. We knew him also since we have heard his Voice, we have followed him Jn 10/4. We have been chosen before the foundation of the world Eph 1/ 3-4. We shall surrender to the father of the spirits Heb 12/9.

See angel.
