It
is to be sincere, without falsehood. But it is more than this, it is also to
act with Truth, i.e. according to the Word of God and not just guided by one's
conscience See conscience.
Those
who act with Truth please God Prov 12/22. It is to have a good conduct
1Pt 2/12.
See
Respect.
Esteem. We are to honor our parents first, though we may not find them very
honorable. In the cults, the honor due to the parents is rejected. It is the
main sign to distinguish the cults. To honor one's parents in the flesh is God's
commandment, the only among the ten commandments which is followed by a promise
Ex 20/12.
We also have to honor God with our belongings Prov 3/9. A person who serves the Lord will be honored by God Jn 12/26. The husbands should honor their wife 1 Pt 3/7. To honor God with the lips only is evil and useless. For this reason, religions are useless for most of the people (notwithstanding the social aspect which is developed there ...). Matt 15/8.
It
is an important point which makes us different from God who knows everything.
We have to hope.
For
instance:
We
are saved by the work of Jesus on the cross, we believe in our salvation with
faith, but have only the hope that we are saved. Rm 8/24.
In
order for this hope to stay with us, to glorify God, our bodies have not yet
been redeemed. Rm 8/23.
We
know that Jesus has carried our wounds on the cross. Is 53/5. We can
expect to be healed thanks to his deed on the cross, but the hope must sustain
our faith because healing takes time to operate.
God does not live in the system of time, He thus has nothing to hope for. Our hope comes to us from the Scriptures Rm 15/4. Whoever hopes in Jesus is purified 1Jn 3/2-3. Faith and hope remain but Love is the greatest of all. 1Cor 13/ 13.
This
Hebrew word means ''save, please!'' It is used in the prayers and the praise.
It is what the crowd was shouting when Jesus-Christ entered Jerusalem. ''Hosanna!''
This crowd recognized the long awaited Messiah in Jesus-Christ. Many among them
were really saved by Jesus on the day of the pentecost when Peter preached.
Acts 2/37-41.
HOSEA. O.T.
He
was a prophet in the kingdom of Israel at the end of the reign of Jeroboam 2.
It was a time of ruin due to sin. The book of Hosea mainly talks of the Love
of God for his people. The punishments inflicted to Israel come from the Love
of God. God also restores his people by Love. Ho 2/21. 4/5.
The
final redemption of Israel is foreseen Ho 12/1. 14/10.
To be humble means no other thing but to be aware that we depend on God. He who acknowledges this humbly surrenders to His Will. God has humbled Moses to teach him that man does not live on bread alone, but on everything that comes from the mouth of God Deut 8/3. God remains with he who is humble Is 57/15. Seek God, all you the humble Zp 2/3. Jesus-Christ humble Matt 11/29. Humble like a child Matt 18/4. Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled Matt 23/12. Lk 14/11. Lk 18/14. Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient Ph 2/8. Lk 22/48. 23/46. God resists the arrogant but is merciful to the humble 1 Pt 5/5-6.
The
disciples of Jesus-Christ have always been singing hymns. Matt 26/30.
I AM. O.T.
See
Jehova. Jesus-Christ.
One
of the names of the Lord in the Old-Covenant. God said to Moses: ''I AM WHO
I AM.'' Ex 3/14-15. I AM the Eternal Ex 6/2-3. Before Abraham is,
I AM Jn 8/56-59.
Jesus-Christ
thus presents himself as being I AM. I AM being Jehova, where can we find the
second and the third persons of the trinity? This must be a mystery..., but
even with faith, I cannot accept it, because faith comes upon hearing God's
Word! Rm 10/17. And the Word of God says: I AM, Jehovah, the Word, the
Holy Spirit, the Alpha and the Omega (and many others) are ONE, and the name
of the unique God has been revealed by Himself come in the flesh. This name
is Jesus. See Jehova. Baptism.
IDLE.
Inactivity
is idleness. He who does not take part in the works of Justice is idle. If someone
is reluctant to work, let him not eat either 2 Tess 3/10. Seek ye first
the Kingdom and the Justice of God Matt 6/33.
Those
who do not seek first the Kingdom and the Justice of God are the same who unjustly
keep the Truth captive Rm 1/18.
Worship
of images or excessive dedication to something or someone. You will have no
other God before My Face Ex 20/3. Death to idolators Deut 8/19.
See Homosexuality. To resist
God is as evil as bowing before a statue whatever it is. 1 Sam 15/23.
Praise gods of gold or of iron Dan 5/23. To serve Mamon (money) is
idolatry Matt 6/24. Col 3/5. Be on your guard against false
gods 1 Jn 5/21.
IMMORALITY (SEXUAL).
What
is practiced sexually out of wedlock with other people (or with animals.)
To sleep with one's father Gn 19/30-36. To sleep with the concubine of one's father Gn 35/22. Gen 49/4.
1
Chron 5/1. See Homosexual. Deut 20/13. Lev 18/22-23. The rape Deut
22/25-27. To sleep with one's sister Deut 27/22. With one's aunt
Deut 20/20. All forms of incests are condemnable Ezek 22/11.
With a beast Deut 27/21. 22/19. If a man looks at a woman lustfully, he has already committed adultery with her in his heart Matt 5/28.
To
live eternally. Jesus-Christ resurrected Mk 16/6. We shall live again
in Christ 1 Cor 15/22. The death will be swallowed 1 Cor 15/53-54.
Jesus has revealed the evidence of immortality. 2 Tim 1/10. The spirit
of the chosen is immortal. It is when our spirit will be given back to our body,
by the resurrection, that it will enjoy immortality. The Bible calls it the
adoption of our body. Rm 8/22-24.
Our soul is created. See soul. It receives the eternal life when are born anew. Jn 1/12. Jn 3/16. The eternal life is the life without beginning and without end. Our soul thus receives the life of the spirit which is ours of all eternity and will be fully and for ever united with it in a personality enriched by the life which we have had here on earth, in the victory against the enemy of God. And the last enemy of God is death. 1 Cor 15/26.
