DANIEL.
OT
Prophet
of the Lord. His parents are not mentioned, but must have been of a royal descent.
Dan 1/3.
Daniel
captive in Babylon receives the name of Belteshazzar Dan 1/6-7. With
his three companions, they refused the royal food because of their faith.
Dan 1/8-16. Nebuchadnezzar and Darius loved him for his capacity to understand
the dreams Dan 2/4.
Daniel
exercised his gift in interpreting languages when he read the inscription on
the wall 1 Cor 12/10 and Dan 5. The lions pit Dan 6.
The
book of Daniel recounts, from chapters 1 to 6 what happened to Daniel
and his friends. Chapters 7 to 12 contain his visions.
DARIUS.
OT
King of the Medes reigning in Babylon. Dan 6/1, 10, 26-29; 9/1; 11/1.
It
is a plant whose seeds are toxic. One can distinguish it from the corn only
when it has reached its maturity. Matt 13/24-30.
DAVID.
OT
Son
of Isaiah, of the tribe of Judas.
With
Goliath 1Sam 2. Chosen by God and anointed to be king of Israel.
David
sheperd in Bethlehem 1 Sam 16-17.
David
at the court of King Saul 1 Sam 18/19-18.
David
fugitive 1 Sam 19/18 to 2 Sam 1/27.
David
at Hebron, king of Judah 2 Sam 2-4.
David
king of Israel 2 Sam 5 to 1 Kings 2/11.
David,
like Saul, was guilty of many sins.
But
David repented with a straight heart, he had a king's heart.
The lamentable story of David and Bath-Scheba owed him much misfortune which ruined his last twenty years. He paid for his sin. His family life was a real disaster. All this was the fulfillment of the word of the prophet Nathan. 2 Sam 12/7-13.
Nevertheless
David is the one who managed to unite the tribes in only one nation. The friendship
of David for Jonathan, son of Saul, was a love higher than the love he had for
women. 2 Sam 2/26. See Jonathan.
But this friendship was not of a sexual nature as some people contend. See homosexuality.
It
is not Sunday in any case. See Sabbath. When John was taken up on a day of the
Lord, it absolutely does not mean he was taken up on a sunday! Rev 1/10.
The day of the Lord is the great and dreadful day Mal 4/5. This day did
not yet come, but we should not wait for too long: it is the day of the Judgment.
See Judgment.
It
is a person called by God for a sacred task. Ph 1/1. 1 Ti 3/8-13. The
verse 11 suggests (for those who are willing to listen) that women can be deacons.
They can thus perform all the tasks of a deacon and exercise the same ministry
as they meet the same standard as men.
SALVATION
for the dead.
See
Baptism. It is given to man to die only
one time. Then he comes to judgment. Heb 9/27. See
Last Judgment. White throne.
All
those who are dead without having made peace with God by the blood of Jesus-Christ
will not be condemned, they will be judged according to the flesh in a first
time. (This judgment leads to a sentence and punishment (blows). Some Christians
who had an evil conduct on earth will pass this judgment too Matt 5/21-26.
Lk 12/47-48. This is what Peter calls ''to be judged like all humanity''
1 Pt 4/6.) Then will come a judgment at the great White Throne Rev 20/11-15.
Among the dead who will be there, some will be saved. They are those who will
have their name written in the book of Life. They will have accepted the Gospel
in the underworld. They will have heard it there for the true disciples of Jesus-Christ
will preach in the underworld during a certain time just after their death.
So doing, they will follow the way showed by Jesus-Christ who opened the gates
by going Himself to preach in the underworld to a certain category of people
in prison. When a spirit in prison hears the Gospel preached, He receives or
rejects it. Those who receive it also accept the act of faith which is made
on the earth of the living by the true disciples who are baptised for them.
As
a matter of fact, on the earth of the living, the true disciples of Jesus-Christ
accomplish nowadays a ministry which was common till the end of the 4th century:
the baptism in the place of the dead.
In
order for that to be done with good discipline, the disciples make very intense
genealogical research to find the names of their ancestors in order to accomplish
in their place what must be done according to the Scriptures.
Having
completed this sacred duty toward the members of their family, the true disciples
of Jesus-Christ are also baptised for other deceased people.
In
the underworld, the captives hear the Voice of the Good sheperd who invites
them to leave this place Is 49/9. For they are chained, captives in a
prison Is 24/22. But the true disciples of Jesus-Christ, once they have
left their mortal body, will proclaim their liberte Is 61/1. Lk 4/18.
The captive dead, in prison hear the voice of the son of God Jn 5/25.
They are being baptised on behalf the dead 1 Cor 15:29. Christ is preached to the spirits in prison 1 Pt 3/18-20. Therefore the Gospel is also preached to the dead, to the spirits in prison 1 Pt 4/6.
It
is the great salted lake which is found at the Southern end of the valley of
the Jordan. It is also called the Salted sea. Its level is about 1200 feet below
the level of the Mediterranean sea. The famous cities of Sodom and Gomorrah
were on the shores of this sea. Gn 14/2-3. There is a prophecy about
the dead sea Ezek 47/8-9.
It
is the separation of the body and of the spirit. We should know that before
the fall in Eden, nothing could ever die. Through sin death entered the world.
Rm 5/12. The fall of Eve and Adam brought about the mortal condition on
all the creation. Therefore the whole creation longs earnestly after the revelation
of the sons of God, we who are born again! Rom 8/19-25.
When
Jesus-Christ died on the cross and resurrected, He defeated death for us (=
in our place) who have faith in Him 1 Cor 15/21-23. The others will
resurrect at the White throne. See Last Judgment. Death will not be defeated
only when it is destroyed by Jesus-Christ. It is the last enemy of Jesus-Christ.
1 Cor 15/26.
We
return to the dust out of which we were taken Gn 3/19. (This is to underline
the fact that we are not coming from the ape, or from the water... But, if you
really want to descend from the ape... I see no problem with that, it may be
true for you!)
The
death of those whom God loves is precious Ps 116/15. The dust returns
to the earth and the spirit returns to God Ec 12/9. See Spirit.
The death comes by a man 1 Cor 15/21. The Lord holds the keys of death
and of the underworld Rev 1/18. See
Baptism (for the dead ) Dispensation.
Keys. Since he holds them, It is for
a very precise reason. It is so that upon their death, the authentic disciples
of Jesus-Christ can go and preach in the underworld. Jesus-Christ went there
1 Pt 3/19-20, and whatever he did there, so should we do. Jn 14/12.
Spiritual death means separation from God. The spiritual death is caused by the fall of Eve and Adam. Still today, the spiritual death reigns on this world. Those who are not in Communion with Jesus-Christ by the Holy Spirit are dead who exist. They exist on this earth, but they are dead 1 Tim 5/6. It is by the grace of God that we can have access to the Life. It is by the faith in what Jesus-Christ has done on the cross and by His resurrection that we can be reborn of the Spirit and become living according to God. Jn 3/1-21.
The affection of the flesh is the death Rm 8/6. Its desires lead people to perdition 1 Tim 6/9. Sin yields death Jm 1/15. He who overcomes shall in no way be injured by the second death Rev 2/11. The second death has no power upon them Rev 20/6, 12-14. As for the wicked, their part will be in the fiery lake of sulfur, that is the second death Rev 21/8.
THE
SECOND DEATH.
It
is the death of the spirits. At the Great White Throne, those who will be condemned
will die a second time. This means, they will be cast in the fiery lake with
the dead and the underworld. They will be forever annihilated. Rev 20/14-15.
All
these spirits who rebelled and who were incarnated in what the Bible calls the
seed of the serpent, or sons of the devil, will be destroyed at that moment.
It is the second death. The death of the spirits. God will thus show that he
is the undisputed master of all things. See
